“Very Special Miss Louisiana” Pageant for Young Ladies with Special Needs to be held January 10 in Hammond
TARC of Hammond is sponsoring the inaugural “Very Special Miss Louisiana” pageant on January 10, 2015, at the Magnuson Hotel in Hammond. The pageant, which is a first for Tangipahoa Parish, is only open to young ladies ages 0 months to 23 years with an intellectual disability, a cognitive delay, or a development disability. The event will serve as a fundraiser for TARC.
“The Very Special Miss Louisiana pageant will be an experience of a lifetime,” states Robin Abrams, TARC Board Member and Pageant Director. “ We want to make girls and young ladies with special needs dreams come true. This competition will put its contestants on a memorable path, leaving them with memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. We are especially grateful to the Magnuson Hotel for donating the space for this wonderful event.”
The pageant will consist of nine age categories. There will be a queen, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd alternates chosen in each age group. In addition, there will be specialty awards for Fashion, Prettiest Eyes and Prettiest Hair. For an additional fee, contestants may also enter a photo for consideration in the Photogenic category. Every contestant will receive a special crown for participating in the event.
To ensure every contestant has the very best pageant experience, hair and makeup artists will be on-hand to help each girl look and feel their best. Special escorts will also be provided for each contestant at a meet and greet on January 9. Several pageant dress rental shops have also volunteered to donate the use of their dresses if needed.
You can register for the pageant now – Entry forms can be found at tarc-hammond.com. All entry forms must be postmarked no later than December 29, 2014 for contestants to participate.
