SLU Rec Camp

Ages: 5-12

Cost: $145/week with registration fee of $40/family. Early drop off starts at 6:50 am, and late pickup is from 3 - 5:45 p.m. Camp costs $160/week with extended hours.

Hosted by Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Recreational Sports and Wellness and offered for 10 weeks this summer.This camp is an option for parents who want their children to have fun and physically active days while developing social skills, confidence and independence.

Each week has a theme and that activities include outdoor adventures, field day games, arts and crafts, health and fitness talks, relay races, a talent show, swimming, and field trips.

Cost includes breakfast, lunch, and snacks each day, as well as a Camp Rec t-shirt.

Camp Kateri is a week-long day and overnight summer camp at Rosaryville Spirit Life Center located in Ponchatoula. Camp Kateri provides a summer camp program of recreation, adventure, creativity and fun, including horseback riding, cooking,  swimming, camp fires, canoeing and more. 

The Rosaryville grounds are fully equipped with over 500 acres, a junior Olympic-size swimming pool, a 2-acre fishing pond, stables, gymnasium, nature trails and more. Camp is filled with fun and challenging activities geared towards developing mind, body and spirit.

The camp emphasizes a friendly and positive environment. The goal is to encourage kids to explore nature, experience new things, create friendships and have FUN!!

KIDCAM Summer Camps

Kidcam is a summer camp program with locations all over Louisiana, and this year they will be in Hammond! Kidcam’s engaging weekly themes are action-packed with activities that promote fun, fitness, friendship, and creativity each week of camp. KIDCAM is bringing you a world of excitement in summer 2015! Each week, our intrepid travelers will “visit” one of seven continents to experience an exciting new culture. Each destination will introduce campers to amazing new foods, languages, science, art, music and dance, along with their favorite KIDCAM activities. Campers aged 5-13 will attend off-campus field trips each week on a licensed bus. The 3-4 year old campers follow a separate schedule of on-campus activities including water play, art, puppet shows, karate, dance, yoga, magic shows, spacewalks, and giant inflatables. 

Hammond Rec Dept Summer Camp

Ages 5-12
Days/Times: Monday-Friday from 8 am - 4 pm from June 1 - July 24.
Cost: $100 for two weeks; $150 for one month; $300 for two months $300. $10 off per child for multiple registrations. Extended hours starting at 7:30 am and ending at 5 pm available for $20/week or $5/day. Good grade discount and assistance programs available.

Every day is an artistic adventure at 2015 Imagine! Summer Camp. Kids create artwork inspired by literature, animals, far away places, people, and the fun stuff of life.We learn about masterpieces, famous artists, styles of art, and how to find inspiration in everything. The camp  offers a myriad of art activities, mediums, and techniques including: acrylic, watercolor, oil and chalk pastels, collage materials and more. Each week is a different theme. Fairy Tale Princess Ballet Camp is designed for petite ballerinas, ages 3-6. This session will be led by instructor Claire Draper. Activities are designed to teach the basics of ballet and movement through creative play and storytelling. Little princesses will dance along with their favorite fairy tales and create related crafts. On the last day of camp, princesses will perform a special dance for their families. Recommended attire includes ballet slippers and comfortable clothing.

All students will complete a t-shirt design, model magic sculpture and printmaking project. The workshop is 8 days long and students will complete 8 different projects including painting and drawing. These projects will be based on the theme “Step Into Art.” Learn about famous artists as you make inspired artwork that also celebrates you. Children enrolled in the workshop will be instructed by art students who will be supervised by Dr. Kim Finley.

Sing, dance, and play to an eclectic mix of songs of praise. For teens: On Tuesday - Thursday afternoons there will be extra activities including choral ensemble and work on a neighborhood mission project.

Ages: 10 and up
Days/Times: July 13 - 17  from 8 am - 12 noon
Cost: Free 

Beginners and those who would like to review are welcome.  The goal is to complete 2 projects while learning the basics of fabrics, stitching, and using a sewing machine. Students should bring their own sewing machine if possible, but it is not necessary.

Ages: 12 and up
Days/Times: Session 1: June 15-26 from 9 am - 12 noon
Session 2 July 6-17 from 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Campers will enjoy lessons in improvisation, character development, Shakespeare, costuming, and scene analysis, with a lot of games in between. Camp will culminate in a brief performance for parents on the last day at pick up time. Each session will be different so campers may attend both sessions.

Young musicians will explore sacred and secular folk music from around the world using xylophones and drums. No experience necessary.

This camp is for students who want to go to the next level with robotics. Students will design a robot, program in RobotC, and complete at the end of the week. Students attending more than 1 camp will get a $10 discount per camp. T-shirts are included with each camp if the applications are received before the deadline. Robot camps are limited to the first 30 students who register.

STEM Flight Training Summer Camp

Ages: High School students

This camp is for High School students interested in exploring aviation. Campers will be taught the fundamentals of flying. They will also be able to get behind the controls of a single engine aircraft with a certified flight instructor. They will also build and launch model rockets, fly remote control model aircrafts, examine a Blackhawk helicopter and private jets. Also, the students will build a personal desktop computer and learn electronic components and circuit design. There will also be a weekend trip to the Infinity Science Center at NASA John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. The camp is sponsored by the Tangipahoa African American Heritage Museum and Veterans Archive.

The Certified Junior Volunteer Training program for teens and adolescents is designed to provide an unique opportunity to learn about the importance of volunteering, giving back to the community, meeting local active volunteers as well as learning basic leadership skills and team work. Positions are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon completion of the session, each participant will be issued a certificate and will become an LCDC Certified Junior Volunteer, and receive a t-shirt.

TetraBrazil Soccer Camp

Ages: 6-15
Days/Times: June 8-12, Half-day and full-day camps available
Cost: $146 for half day and $201 for full day sessions. Team camp rates are also available.

Half-day camp, for ages 6-16, will have a morning session from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon or an afternoon session from 5:30 - 8:30 pm. Full-day camp, for ages 8-16, runs from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and 5:30 - 8:30 pm.

The camp is sponsored by STYSA and Challenger Sports. They will be coached by a member of Challenger's elite team of Brazilian soccer coaches.

Jay Ladner's All-American Basketball Camp

Ages: 6-14
Days/Times: June 22 -244. The camp will hold 2 sessions each day from 9 am - 12 pm  and from 1 - 4 pm.
Cost: Cost is $30 per session or $150 for all 3 days
Location: SLU University Center

The camp will be conducted by Ladner's staff and players from SLU.

Junior Golf Clinics at Oak Knoll

Ages: 8-16
Days/Times: Tuesday-Thursday from 4:45-5:30 daily: May 26 - 28 or June 2 - 4
Location: Oak Knoll Country Club, 45246 Country Club Road, Hammond. Meet at the Putting green each day at 4:45 pm (rain or shine).
Cost:  $15 per session for Oak Knoll Members, $25 per session for non members.

Clinic topics will include: Basic fundamentals of grip; posture, stance and alignment; the full swing, chipping and putting; golf etiquette; and common rules of golf.

By the end of each clinic each child should have learned enough to play a round of golf. On Thursday at 5:45 pm, Junior golfers will play 3 holes.

Each golfer should have their own clubs. Proper golf attire required. 

Rob Noel Golf Channel Academy

Ages: 4-16

Campers will go through golf activities each day, while playing purposeful games in-between. Includes golf instruction and activities, range balls, embroidered hat, materials, snacks, drinks, final day pool party with lunch.

      Here is the info I have on Girl Scout camp:
      Camp Whispering Pines
      56535 HWY 1054 Independence, LA

      Girl Scouts and non Girl Scouts ages 6-17 are eligible to attend camp sessions lasting from 3 days to 2 weeks. Camp begins on May 31 and sessions run through July 17.
      Campers will enjoy many activities including swimming, hiking, fishing, kayaking, Rick climbing wall, high ropes course, arts & crafts and more.
