Local Teacher Publishes Book about “The Day My Class Broke All the Rules” – Win a Copy!

heidikissingerHeidi Easley of Ponchatoula is a wife, mother, teacher of 10 years, and now add to that list: author! Heidi’s first book The Day My Class Broke All the Rules is now available in local stores and from the author. Books will also be available at a special book signing event on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 6-8 pm at La Carretta Ponchatoula. See below for a chance to win a copy!

As an early childhood teacher, you can naturally assume Heidi has many stories to tell! “Over my years of teaching young children, I often had to step back and laugh at the funny yet mischievous things my students did,” she explains. She often found herself saying, “I could write a book about this.”

Over the years, Heidi wrote down funny or memorable instances and kept a journal of ideas. Soon, she knew she had to turn all her inspiration into a book so she could share the heartwarming laughs with other families and teachers!

The Day My Class Broke All the Rules is that book, filled with the fun that came from a decade of experience teaching young kids!

“The most enjoyable part of this process was seeing my story come to life through the illustrations!” says Heidi. “I worked with a great illustrator that listened to every detail that I wanted for the book.”

Fun Facts about The Day My Class Broke All the Rules:

  •  The teacher’s name in Heidi’s story is Mrs. Boogie, named after her sister, Holly. Boogie is her nickname.
  •  Heidi’s children Brady and Boston appear in the book, as the cause of much mischief!
  • On the first page of the book is a quote that most teachers say on crazy days at school: “Last night must have been a full moon.” If you are in the teaching profession, you probably can’t help but laugh as you know just what she means!
  •  Although this is Heidi’s first published book, it probably won’t be her last! In fact, she almost went with another idea but ultimately decided to share this story as it is so relatable. So stay tuned for future publications!
