Relay for Life of South Tangipahoa will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 10am – 6 pm at North Oak Park in Hammond. Visit the event page for more information on participating. This event is very family friendly. At the start of the Relay, cancer survivors make the first lap. It is a very moving and inspiring moment. Then the teams get to work – one person from a team is out on the track walking at all times during the relay. Bring your family and some money for this great cause. You can cheer on the walkers/runners and have a great time visiting all the booths decorated and worked by local businesses and organizations. There are lots of great eats, fun raffles and neat things for sale, with all money going to the American Cancer Society. The event ends with the touching luminary ceremony, to honor and remember those we love in our families and communities who have been affected by cancer.
The weekend before the Relay is the “Color Out 5K” fun run/walk to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The event will begin at 9am (with registration at 8am) at Cate Square Park on Saturday, Nov. 2. Click here for more information.
