Thursday, Dec. 4: Town of Roseland Christmas Parade

  • 6 pm Start Time
  • Route:  Starts at old JayCee Hall, goes up Hwy 51 to the old City Hall
Friday, Dec 5: Hammond Christmas Parade
  • 6:30 pm Start Time
  • Theme: “It’s a Beautiful Night in the City of Hammond”
  • Route:  General Pershing to Church St., Left on Church St., Right on Magnolia, Left on Thomas St., Left on SW Railroad Ave., Merge Right on N. Oak St., Left on University, end at Tornado Dr.
  • Check out “The Zone” – a safe place for families to enjoy the Christmas Parade, held on Gen. Pershing near the Pennington Center (SLU Rec Center) from 5-6:30 pm. Free activities and face painting. Children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Bring lawn chairs.

  • Route: Downtown Amite
  • Theme: ‘It’s a Country Christmas”
Saturday, Dec. 13: Ponchatoula Christmas Parade
  • 5 p.m. Start Time
  • Route:  Starts at Memorial Park and travels east down HWY 22 to Ponchatoula Junior High School.
  • Theme: Cartoons on Parade!

Saturday, Dec. 13: Village of Tangipahoa Christmas Parade

  • 12 noon
  • Route: The parade starts at the Spur Station on US 51, turns left on Hwy 440 West which is Center Street, turns right on North Rainey, turns right on Martin Luther King and turns left on Jackson Street. The parade will end at City Hall.
  • Theme: ‘A Big Christmas in a Small Town’

Sunday, Dec. 14: Independence Christmas Parade

  • Parade will begin at Mater Dolorosa Church

Through 25: Hammond’s Zemurray Park Christmas Lights

  • Open nightly Dec. 5 – Dec. 25 from 6 – 9 pm
  • Zemurray Park, 400 S. Oak Street, Hammond
  • Cost: Free
  • Drive through or take a walk through the “Children’s Playland” light display.
  • The train will run for free on Fridays (Dec. 5, 12, and 19) from 6 – 9 pm; and on Saturdays and Sundays (Dec. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21) from 5 – 9 pm.

Friday, Dec. 5: Ponchatoula Annual Christmas Lighting

  • Downtown Ponchatoula
  • 5 pm – 9 pm
  • Come stroll the streets of Ponchatoula and enjoy shopping in a variety of shops while listening to local choirs and bands.
  • Visit with Santa on the steps of the Collinswood Museum (bring your own camera) and watch Mayor Zabbia light the official tree at 6 pm.

  • Admission: $10 for children ages 2 -12. Parents are FREE
  • Families will enjoy a live nativity, pony rides, petting zoo, sleigh rides, crafts, face painting, and Christmas choirs.

Saturday, Dec. 6: Hammond Rotary’s “Movie Night Under the Stars” 

  • Cate Square Park in Hammond
  • Activities begin at 4 pm and the movie “Elf” starts at 6 pm on a 22 ft. inflatable screen
  • Entrance to the movie is one non-perishable food item per person that will be donated to the  Tangi Food Pantry.
  • Concessions will be available to purchase such as hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, popcorn and a variety of other snacks. All proceeds to benefit local community projects and non-profits.
  • Bring your blankets and/or chairs.
  • Activities  include:  Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center will have face painting, KSLU will take Christmas photos and play Christmas music, and Chick Fil A will have a tent with games and their Christmas Cow Mascot.

Saturday, Dec. 6: Merry Madisonville  

  • 4 pm – Parade begins at Maritime Museum in Madisonville and ends on Riverfront in front of Town Hall
  • 5 pm – Santa arrives by boat on the Riverfront
  • 5:30 pm – Lighting of the Tree and Caroling and Santa’s Workshop opens
  • At Santa’s Workshop, kids can decorate cookies, write letters to Santa, make jewelry and listen to a story by Mrs. Claus
  • Free photos with Santa will be available
  • Snow will be falling from 5-8 pm!

Saturday, Dec 6: Fellom Ballet Presents “The Nutcracker” to Benefit the Tangi Food Pantry

  • 1-2 pm
  • St Albert Catholic Student Center, 409 W Dakota St, Hammond, Louisiana 70401
  • More than 20 Fellom Ballet School intermediate and advanced dancers will bring the “Land of Sweets” to life in a “mini” traveling “Nutcracker” performance.
  • Admission for this public performance is one non-perishable “sweet” (cake, pie or cookie mixes) to benefit The Tangi Food Pantry.
  • Guests will be invited to decorate cookies and enjoy hot chocolate following the 37-minute performance.
Saturday, Dec. 6: FlapJacks with Santa
  • 9:00 am – 12:00 noon at The Pavillion at Carter Plantation

  • Cost: $20 per person, infants under 1 are free.
  • Advanced tickets are required
  • Doors open at 9 am with letter writing to Santa. Flapjacks are served at 9:30 am, followed by storytelling by Santa’s Helper. Santa arrives at 10:30 am. Bring your own camera.

Saturday, Dec. 6: 2nd Annual Reindeer Run for Restoration House 

  • Starts at 8:30 am
  • Memorial Park in Ponchatoula
  • This is a family-oriented and Christmas themed race. All proceeds benefit Restoration Pregnancy Resource Center of Hammond.  This race will feature long sleeve t shirts, medals for all children who participate, and lots of fun Christmas surprises! Santa Claus will be there and food and beverages from local vendors will be available as part of the registration fee.
  • There will be a 1 mile fun run/walk.5K and 1 Mile Fun Run.

  • See Bethlehem come to life. This event is beautiful and free to the public. Stay in your car while you tour Bethlehem, created by a team of awesome volunteers!

  • Enjoy a delightful tea with Clara and the Nutcracker. The buffet will include finger sandwiches, fruit and delicious treats.

  • Cost: Members $25 first child, $15 each additional child; Non-Members: $25 first child, $20 each additional child
  • Make reservations for your child to enjoy a ‘night in’ while you enjoy a ‘night out.  Kids will watch the original Santa Clause movie, play Christmas themed games, sing carols, drink milk and decorate our own cupcakes, and play hide and seek. Each child will take home some Christmas goodies.
