2016 Christmas Activities – UPDATED Dec 16

Through Dec. 25: Hammond’s Zemurray Park Christmas Lights

  • Open nightly Dec. 2 – Dec. 25 from 6 – 9 pm
  • Zemurray Park, 400 S. Oak Street, Hammond
  • Cost: Free
  • Drive through or take a walk through the “Children’s Playland” light display.
  • The train will run for free on Fridays (Dec. 2, 9, and 16) from 6 – 9 pm; and on Saturdays and Sundays (Dec. 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18) from 5 – 9 pm. The last day for the train is December 18.

 Dec. 16-17, 2016: Christmas Lights Down on the Farm at Liuzza Land
  • Liuzza Land –  56188 Holden Circle in Amite
  • 5 – 9 pm
  • Admission: $10 per car

Saturday, December 17, 2016: Loranger’s All Horse Christmas Parade

  • 1 pm start time
  • The parade will begin at the Loranger FFA Arena (1/4 of a mile north of Loranger)

Dec. 17-18, 2016: One Night in Bethlehem

  • 5:30-8:30 pm nightly
  • 47094 Randall Road in Hammond (off of Wardline Road, just west of I-55. Turn by Tangi Tourism building. Gates are a little over a mile on your right – located in the old rest area property)
  • Outdoor live “mega” nativity production - a FREE family-friendly event centered around the real reason for the season!
  • Travel back to biblical times to witness the Christmas story. Stroll through the streets of Bethlehem, then take a trailer ride with 20 minutes of theatrical scenes that tell the story of the birth of Jesus. Rides take place every 6 minutes. Free cookies and hot chocolate are provided next to a campfire at the end of the ride.

Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 – Decorating Cookies for Santa at the Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center

  • 10 am – 12 pm
  • Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center (113 N Cypress St, Hammond, Louisiana 70401)
  • Children will have the opportunity to decorate a cookie to bring home and leave out for Santa. The cookies and decorations (icing, sprinkles, etc) will be provided by the center.
  • Normal admission rates apply.
  • You must call 985-340-9150 to sign up for one of the available time slots.

Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 - St. Paul’s Christmas Vacation Bible School

  • 9 am to noon
  • 707 W. Dakota, Hammond
  • Ages 3 through 5th grade

Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016 – Breakfast with Santa 

  • 9 am – 1 pm
  • Le Fleur De Lis Reception Hall and Catering, 111 N. 6th St. in Ponchatoula
  • Cost: $25.95/Adult and $14.95/Child.  Children 2 and under are free.
  • Reservations required – call 985-386-0710 or email events@lefleurdeliscatering.com
  • Santa is coming to have breakfast with all the good little boys and girls! Activities include: Santa’s little farm animals, face painting, cookie making and story time with Santa’s elves. Each family receives a professional  4×6 Santa picture. Breakfast features Sausage, Bacon, Eggs, Grits, Cajun Sausage Gravy, French Toast Sticks, Pancakes with Syrup and Biscuits.

Dec. 18-22, 2016: Christmas Down on the Farm at Liuzza Land

  • Liuzza Land –  56188 Holden Circle in Amite
  • 5 – 9 pm daily from Dec. 18-22
  • Admission: $10 per child ages 2 – 12; $5 per adult
  • Enjoy Christmas on the Farm with a live nativity scene, snow, petting zoo, pony rides, Christmas choir, crafts and sleigh rides.

Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016: Cocoa and Cookies with Santa

  • Tangipahoa Community Health Center – 42351 Phyllis Ann Drive in Hammond
  • 12 noon – 2 pm
  • Free
  • Enjoy a fun holiday event for the whole family and a health information fair.
  • Register ahead of time for your child to receive a toy.
